Feature rich, this is the most comprehensive middleware, available exclusively for managing the QuadPlay™ Media IPTV platform. It enables the seamless integration of an entire product line in the IPTV value chain.
FEATURES:
User Management
The middleware provides the dynamic user interface (UI) to the Set Top Box (STB). It also keeps track of the STB security ID, as well as maintaining the STB usage log for billing and security purposes. It provides the web-based STB remote control capability, ideal for helpdesk and technical support resource. The STBs can also be remotely upgraded. The User Interface of the STB can be fully customised and assigned to individual users or multiple user groups.
Content Management
Content management is one of the most complex tasks in managing the IPTV services. The QuadPlay™ Media Middleware works in conjunction with QuadPlay™ Media Security and DRM solution, providing very flexible control over that content. For example, you can apply different costs to different content types, decide on the usage pattern, or create different packages for different content groups. The software manages and tracks content storage on Network Attached Storage (NAS). For efficiency purposes and related cost savings, it can migrate the content among streaming servers to load balance, as well as between streaming servers and a NAS cluster. Content with high demand is placed at the edge (streaming servers) while low-demand content can be kept at the NAS. This intelligent content migration function is transparent to users and the content is delivered to user STB without any noticeable delay, irrespective of the content stored on edge or at back.
Infrastructure Management
Effective system monitoring and smart management ensures smooth IPTV service delivery. It is impossible and very costly to keep manual track of every server system in any mid to large IPTV deployment. QuadPlay™ Media middleware therefore makes life simple by providing completely automated functionality. It allows you to configure server roles and functions and control input and output parameters. The middleware provides manual and automated tools for load balancing and is fully integrated with the QuadPlay™ Media security solutions, also providing multiple levels of user administration control. It monitors the availability of all servers and can activate a failover mechanism in the event of finding a component failure. An SNMP alert is sent to the system administrator and this can be transmitted via many different media - email, SMS, pager, alarms etc… It also maintains complete information on content usage, service usage, user databases, network devices and operational parameters. It additionally offers extensive API support to interface with the 3rd party applications such as billing systems, remote helpdesk and support call centre operations etc.
Revenue Generating Functions
QuadPlay™ Media's IPTV platform empowers the Service Provider with additional revenue generating streams in addition to content offerings, such as advertising. QuadPlay™ Media middleware has patented "Targeted AD mechanism" that ensures guaranteed AD delivery to users from different user groups, based on a variety of factors such as age group, ethnic communities, demographic group, niche interest group and many other options. It allows the dynamic AD insertion in the content, supporting one-to-one and one-to-many messaging functionality that can be used to provide services such as sending multimedia greetings and text messages. The system enables users with real time interaction that can be used for gaming applications, such as running online casinos, gambling and betting services. It can also be used by marketing agencies to conduct user surveys and similar applications.
