Streaming Server

Unicast and Multicast streaming servers for IPTV, Broadcasting and Video On Demand services

The QuadPlay™ Media streaming server lies at the core of QuadPlay™ Media's IPTV platform. It is responsible for delivering the Unicast/Multicast video streams to the Set Top Box (STB). It has been designed to deliver MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 based optimal quality video in the most efficient manner possible.

UNICAST STREAMING SERVER
The Unicast server uses connection-oriented protocols to maintain the Quality of Service (QoS) that is vital to the quality of any content delivery. The servers are based on QuadPlay™ Media's state-of-the-art QuadPlay™ Media IPTV technology. The Unicast server provides precise control over the RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) sessions that deliver the content, even allowing fast-forward and rewind functions that are completely smooth in operation, giving the user a DVD player-like experience. The advanced streaming algorithm developed by QuadPlay™ Media provides the means of fully controlling video streams even on public Broadband Internet (1 to 1.5 Mbps), supporting up to 500 concurrent users.

MULTICAST STREAMING SERVER
The multicast servers deliver multicast streams in multicast-enabled networks, providing efficient delivery of content to many concurrent users. Multicast streaming mode shares the same stream among all users on the network, thereby conserving enormous amounts of bandwidth leading directly to huge cost savings, making it ideal for running IPTV channels. The technology supports up to 10 multicast streams per server.

This server technology is the perfect choice for demanding streaming applications such as IPTV, Video on Demand and Music on Demand. The server intelligently monitors and controls the quality of the multimedia stream to each individual client, thereby enabling it to offer provisioned QoS. In this way, the multicast-enabled networks can utilise the multicast streaming servers in order to optimise bandwidth usage at all times. The servers are managed using a simple remote, web based control panel. As well as being simple to use, the control panel is completely secure, providing full control of the streaming servers. For major deployments, multiple servers coordinate automatically with each other to provide redundancy and failover functions to enable 24x7 operations in any IPTV service provision. The servers are based on robust, carrier grade server platform powered by dual Intel XEON processors. They are housed in sleek, 1U rackable cases to minimise storage requirements.
